We crack,
splintering into our most basic geometries,
shards of our intricacies litter the pavement,
and glow like angel fires underneath the
watchful gaze of overhead streetlamps.
We, reduced to fractals, try to still
claim the night with our skyward fingers and
sharp edges of tongue,
still squalling out bits of wrecked star song
and disenchanted protest.
David Bowie croons in our ears,
and we, radiant but fragmentary,
begin to reassemble into different versions of
ourselves
to witness the stained glasses of Sunday morning
and heeding the calls to prayer

is currently a resident of Indiana. As somebody who has studied biochemistry during her undergrad, but who is also an avid writer of poetry, she thinks there is a special beauty in melding both worlds of the hard and social sciences, as science can be art, and the art of poetry can be a science. Taking subject matter/imagery from her studies is a lens she likes working with to combine both worlds.
